About Us
Based in Letchworth Garden City, we are a local Will writing & estate planning business. Whilst most of our clients live in the local towns of Letchworth, Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City, Arlesey, Stotfold, Baldock, Biggleswade, Knebworth, Royston, Sandy, Luton or Stevenage, we also serve clients across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, North London and beyond.
The business is run by John Franklin who, prior to taking up Will writing full time, worked for 20 years in the public sector as a Chartered Public Finance Accountant. Please note that although John is not himself a solicitor and the business is not one which is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), John is a full member of the self-regulatory body the ‘Society of Will Writers’ (SWW) and an affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners), and has unlimited access to a team of highly skilled and experienced solicitors within the SWW technical team should he require it.

- Access to unlimited technical & legal advice from the Society’s legal team
- Ongoing professional training
- Monthly professional development and technical update meetings in St Albans with SWW colleagues from across the Herts & Beds region
The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)
After months of study and a gruelling 5-hour exam in November 2025 John Franklin has been awarded (with Merit) the prestigious STEP Advanced Certificate in Will preparation.
STEP is the leading representative and training body for solicitors, Will writers and other professionals across the globe who specialise in Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning. Holders of the STEP Advanced Certificate in Will preparation must abide by the STEP Will Writing Code, which is a set of ethical principles that operate for the benefit of clients to demonstrate openly the commitment of STEP members to transparency and client service.
